What's in a name?

A drove is a traditional term used to describe the movement of livestock, and in a time before motorised transport a day’s drove would generally be the maximum distance that farmers would move their animals to market.

So farmers supplying the market town of Bishops Castle would have been within a day’s drove, and that is broadly the area from which quality beef, lamb and pork is now sourced for the Daysdrove abattoir - albeit with modern transport to significantly shorten that time on the road.

This short distance from farm to slaughter is one of the key founding principles of the Daysdrove business, and is the reason why high animal welfare standards, low food miles and strong environmental responsibility sit alongside outstanding quality as characteristics that you can be sure are a feature of all Daysdrove products and services.
